StarHub prepares to launch Malay channel in Singapore

SINGAPORE - StarHub has announced plans to launch Singapore's first 24-hour Malay channel, targeting Singapore's second largest ethnic demographic.

The channel is set to launch in Q3 2007, with pricing and package details to be announced at a later date. Content Network Asia has been appointed as StarHub’s partner to assist with programming and scheduling decisions.

Tham Loke Kheng, StarHub’s SVP of content and marketing, said: “We look forward to bringing the first and only dedicated Malay entertainment channel to viewers in Singapore, and aim to set new benchmarks in terms of content diversity and quality.” According to the latest census, Singapore’s population is approximately 77 per cent Chinese, 14 per cent Malay and eight per cent Indian.
