StarHub pitches $22m media business

SINGAPORE - StarHub is holding a review of its estimated S$34 million (US$22 million) media business, with incumbent Zenith defending the business in a pitch against MindShare, PHD and Starcom.

A StarHub spokesman confirmed the news, and issued the following statement: "While we have enjoyed a great working relationship with our media buying agency Zenith Media since 2002, we are currently conducting a new pitch process to select and appoint an agency-on-record to provide media strategy, planning and buying expertise, starting from 2008."

The competing agencies completed their presentations in December, and a result is expected before Chinese New Year.

The statement continued: "This review is in keeping with our continued evolution to find fresh and innovative media strategies that can effectively promote StarHub's 'hubbing' strategy, as well as to maintain good corporate governance. We have chosen to conduct a 'closed door' pitch process where only a select group of agencies including the incumbent agency, Zenith Media, will present their credentials and ideas."
