The show will be the only programme featured on the new cable channel. It will run for 18 hours a day on a 360-degree platform spanning TV, web and mobile.
Viewers can participate with the show on mobile devices, getting regular updates and access to behind-the-scenes webisodes via social media.
Sunsilk Academy Fantasia, produced by production company Refinery Media, is a 10-week competition that sees 14 contestants battle for a two-year recording contract.
The show has already been introduced across Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and Malaysia.
Tan Tong Hai, chief operator of StarHub, said the production of Sunsilk Academy Fantasia is the telco’s biggest foray into content production.
"Any operator can acquire a piece of content and retransmit the content on its platform, so how do we differentiate ourselves?" he said. "Going forward, content development is the way to go."
