Starcom Singapore veteran Kaur to go

SINGAPORE - Starcom veteran Jaswinder Kaur - a key executive on the agency's Procter & Gamble business - is leaving after 15 years with the agency, most recently as Singapore CEO.

In addition, the Publicis Groupe media agency’s head of digital Mark Newton has left, moving to specialist digital shop Qais Consulting, where he will take on the role of VP, digital media.

Starcom MediaVest Group regional CEO D Sriram confirmed Kaur’s departure, although her next destination remains unclear.

Kaur was not available for comment as Media went to press.

“Jaswinder has been a pillar, and has made some marvellous contributions to our business,” said Sriram.

“She has built her career at one company, which is something I admire and respect hugely. Frankly I’m really wishing she wouldn’t go. I hope at some time in the future, she decides to come back.”

Newton joins Qais soon after Joe Zandstra, who was recently hired from XM Asia- Pacific as VP, strategy. Qais offers digital media planning, buying, consulting as well as creative. Its clients include Yahoo, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, American Express and Intercontinental Hotels.

“Traditional media agencies have been woefully slow to adopt digital and have shown no genuine commitment to embrace the medium, which has frustrated me,” said Newton.

“I have been thinking about a move for sometime and I’m pleased to be part of a company which is focused on the future.”
