Starcom retains Coca-Cola’s China media account following pitch

SHANGHAI - After a a comprehensive review of media agencies, which included MediaCom and MEC, Coca-Cola China has retained Starcom as its media agency partner in China.

This China pitch took place earlier this month in the Coca-Cola Shanghai office. Coca-Cola China said it looks forward to working with Starcom and continuing to build the strong relationship that they have had in China since 2003.

"We're thrilled that Coca Cola has re-appointed Starcom as its media agency and partner in China", said Bertilla Teo, CEO, Greater China, Starcom MediaVest Group. "We have been a partner of Coca Cola China since 2003 and this re-appointment further underscores the uplifting and meaningful work  that Starcom China has consistently brought to the table, and is testament to the trust the client has placed in us as we partner them to achieve their shared 2020 vision."

The global soft drink giant reported that in the first six months of 2011, sales of Coca-Cola company in China topped one billion unit cases – double the number sold five years ago when the Company first delivered a billion unit cases over a full year.

China had an ‘outstanding’ performance over the latest quarter, supported by strong growth in the Coca-Cola brand and Minute Maid Pulpy, the leading juice brand in China, the company said.

Coca Cola’s global chairman and CEO Muhtar Kent (pictured), has recently visited China, announcing further investment of US$4 billion in the market over the next three years.

‘Our strong partners such as Starcom will be instrumental for us to reach the 2020 shared vision," the company said in a statement.
