StanChart boosts account volumes with Disney tie-up

Standard Chartered's strategic tie-up with Hong Kong Disneyland has resulted in the opening of more than 10,000 new accounts, ahead of the theme park's opening this month.

The 'My dream account' promotion -- launched last month and running until the end of September -- provides a passbook savings account, and those who sign up in the next few weeks will receive a limited edition piggy bank featuring Disney characters, and automatic entry into a daily draw to win four tickets to Disneyland. The campaign includes television, print outdoor and POS at 16 Standard Chartered branches.

Hong Kong Disneyland director of alliance marketing Josephine Lam said the tie-up provided another channel through which the theme park could reach consumers. "Standard Chartered Bank is our official bank sponsor," said Lam. "SCB has a wide base of family account holders interested in visiting Disneyland with their children."

The promotion is the latest in a number of campaigns leading up to the opening of Disneyland, which have included strategic alliances with Visa and Coca-Cola China, and the launch of a dedicated theme park TV channel aimed at high-income families in Hong Kong.
