SsangYong Motor appoints DDB in Korea

SEOUL - LEE DDB has been selected to handle SsangYong Motor Company's US$26 million domestic creative brief, beating incumbent Oricom, LG agency Silver Bullet, and Cheil Worldwide.

Having established itself as a manufacturer of SUVs based on the US Army Jeep in the 1950s, SsangYong is looking to raise awareness of its luxury Chairman W marque, as well as maintain its Rexton II Euro SUV.

While SsangYong competes with Hyundai Kia, GM Daewoo and Renault Samsung, its primary focus remains on entry-level SUV production.
