S'pore kids title marks revamp with sports plug

Kids Company has debuted a new marketing campaign to accompany a revamp of the MediaCorp title's editorial offering.

The publication is partnering with the Singapore Sports Council as the official kids magazine of the upcoming Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 7-Eleven Kids Dash, and is setting up a 'Marathon Carnival', where families can take part in a range of activities. In addition the title is also rolling out children's activities at bookstores Borders. MPH and Kinokuniya -- comprising such events as snowflake-making contests and exclusive toy giveaways. The campaign comes as Kids Company celebrates its fifth anniversary as an 'edu-tainment' title. The editorial revamp is being touted as providing refreshed content and enhanced reader accessibility, and includes a pull-out activity section, a kids calendar, an advice page and an enhanced sports section. "We just wanted to keep step with the readers,"said MediaCorp Publishing group editor for kids and education, Juleen Shaw. "We spoke to them and had focus groups. Children are used to change." Shaw added that, while Kids Company was the first publication to target the four to 12 year old demographic, "there are a lot more copycat type magazines now."
