SPH and Yellow Pages form ZapCode ad alliance in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Singapore Press Holdings NewMedia has formed an alliance with Yellow Pages to bring ZapCode technology to advertisers for the 2008/2009 edition of its buying guide.

Targeted at 1.4 million Singaporean households and businesses, the directory will feature colour-filled discount coupons and downloadable content for consumers to activate through their mobile phones.

Leslie Fong, senior EVP of SPH marketing, said: “Advertisers are seeking different platforms with which to connect to their customers, and we want to present ZapCode as a versatile communication and marketing tool for them. The code can be placed on any medium, from posters to T-shirts to websites. It presents a cost-effective tool for advertisers to get their message across.”

Danny Chow, CEO of Yellow Pages Singapore, added: "We are confident that ZapCode can bring optimized reach and exposure to our valued advertisers and would encourage Singaporeans to discover the benefits of 'Zapping' anytime, anywhere, to enjoy the latest promotions offered by advertisers.”

SPH NewMedia signed with ColorZip Southeast Asia in January 2007 to distribute its patented ColorCode Technology, widely found in Japan and Korea.
