David Guerrero, BBDO Philippines chairman and chief creative officer, described Syfu as "a senior talent whose vast range of experience will prove invaluable in the delivery of international quality service to our clients".
Syfu has been assigned the PepsiCo, Pizza Hut and Smart telecommunications accounts in his new role. He is now one of two client service directors in the agency, along with Mio Chongson.
Syfu spent the past eight-and-a-half years in senior roles in the McCann-Erickson Asia-Pacific network, most recently as vice-president of account management in Thailand, where Nestle was his key account responsibility.
At the same time, he also served as Indochina coordinator for the Nescafe brand. Prior to that, he was general manager of McCann Indonesia.
Syfu said that his role would be to "apply regional experience in helping to build a stronger client service group that will bolster the reputation of BBDO/Guerrero Ortega as the top creative shop in the Philippines".
Major accounts that Syfu has worked on in the past include Kimberley Clark, RFM Corporation, San Miguel, Cathay Pacific and General Motors.
