SOS appeals for volunteers with TV spot by Bates

Bates has rolled out a TVC for charity organisation Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) in a bid to attract desperately-needed volunteers.

Launched this month, the TVC shows a young woman in tears calling the SOS 24-hour hotline, and closes with a shot of her tears rolling back up her face. The message, 'Be a Samaritan' and a phone number also appear. Bates Asia COO Matthew Godfrey said: "We wanted to create something that felt positive and truly showed what SOS is about," he said. He added that in the year ending March 2004, the SOS helpline received more than 36,000 calls. "This is limited because the number of calls SOS can take in a day is limited by the number of volunteers they have," said Godfrey. "With this TVC, we hope to recruit more volunteers and open more phone lines to people."
