Sorrell tips three as 'tiger' markets to keep an eye on

Advertising mogul Sir Martin Sorrell has flagged up Vietnam, Pakistan and Indonesia as the next Asian 'tiger' advertising markets.

Sorrell, CEO of WPP, identified the countries as the 'ones to watch' for the future beyond the current boom markets of China and India. "Vietnam is coming into its own, Indonesia is looking strong -- although there are possible challenges given oil prices," said Sorrell. "Pakistan and Bangladesh are also ones to watch and, if political conditions change, Myanmar," he added.

Sorrell, one of the most influential figures in the advertising industry, has firmly placed Asia at the heart of WPP's future growth strategy. Earlier this month he embarked on a whirlwind fact-finding trip to China and India as part of a European Union trade mission, which counted British Prime Minister Tony Blair as one of its number. The trip occurred as WPP revealed the acquisition of Australian operation The Communications Group and Enterprise in India to merge with its existing Bates operation.

Sorrell admitted that the staggering growth in the current 'hot' markets of China and India "can't last forever" and has his eye on the next tranche of mass consumer markets to reach advertising maturity. See Analysis
