Sony | Rock it out like Jimi! | Asia Pacific

To exemplify its 'make believe' mantra, Sony is giving aspiring rock stars a chance to turn their dreams into reality, by kicking off its "Rock It Out Like Jimi Hendrix!" air guitar contest in Asia Pacific.

Partnering with Bates 141 Singapore, Sony Electronics Asia Pacific further enforces its 'make believe' tagline following a previous 'My dot moment' campaign.

Sony Electronics Asia Pacific has partnered with Sony Music and Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Asia to launch the “Rock It Out Like Jimi Hendrix!” air guitar contest.

Bates 141 Singapore brings this experience to life at www.sony-asia.com/makedotbelieve, the Sony make.believe microsite for Asia Pacific.

Leading with the message "Do you believe that you can rock it out like a star?", the design of the microsite is centered around the concept of a concert stage to entice visitors with the possibilities of performing like a rock star when they participate in the contest.

In addition, easy music navigation allows visitors to be immersed in the world of Jimi’s music – bringing them one step closer to their dreams of rock-stardom.

To take part, consumers are required to submit a video in which they are rocking out, air guitar-style, to one of the selected Jimi Hendrix tracks.

Jennie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, will then select the winners. The top prize is a Gibson Flying V guitar, while runners-up can walk away with Jimi Hendrix memorabilia. The contest ends at midnight on 12 June.

The agency is reaching its target audience through AXN Asia channel, Sony Music’s microsite and Sony Asia Pacific’s microsite, sending out eDMs to Sony’s music databas and Sony Make.believe members’ databse.

The winners will be announced on 9 July.
