SINGAPORE: Newcomer StarHub has raced past the 300,000 customer
mark for mobile services, 11 months after its launch, exceeding its
first year sales target of 200,000 customers.
Celebrating its first anniversary this month, StarHub said per second
billing, free incoming calls and marketing link-ups with Sony music
stars helped it surpass business targets. In one of its promotions,
featuring Sony stars Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin, StarHub launched
its "Green Card" pre-paid mobile package to target the youth segment
ahead of Virgin Mobile's launch later this year.
StarHub offered a free copy of Lopez's j.Lo or Martin's Sound Loaded
album with every receipt for three Sdollars 18 (about USdollars 10)Green
Cards purchased.
To raise awareness for the initiative, StarHub and Sony Music ran a
TVcampaign and also sponsored TCS 5's "Crazy, Sexy, Cool - J. Lo
Special" after lobbying the television station to broadcast the show.
