Sony calls regional creative pitch

ASIA-PACIFIC - Sony Electronics Asia-Pacific will review its regional creative business, following the resignation of incumbent Y&R.

The WPP agency, which secured the account in mid-2006, ended its relationship with the consumer electronics giant due to conflict concerns with its newly-won LG Electronics global business.

A Sony spokesperson told Media that the business would now go up for pitch, but declined to provide further details. The last review for the account included Y&R, TBWA, BatesAsia and 10AM.

Y&R president Ambar Brahmachary was unavailable for comment but an agency spokesperson confirmed the decision. Y&R was retained by LG to handle its global distribution duties, in tandem with lead creative agency BBH, in late 2007.
