Song to lead Cathay Pacific creative as Lam leaves McCann ECD post

HONG KONG - Carol Lam (pictured), McCann Erickson Cathay Pacific Central Team's executive creative director, will vacate her post early next year, with Sylvester Song moving up to lead the airline's creative.

Lam, who leaves the agency after three years in the role, has confirmed she will take up the role of ECD at TBWA\Shanghai in the new year.

Song - a former Ogilvy creative - has been with the agency since September 2005 and has won numerous regional and international awards. “We have always had a succession plan in place and when we hired Sly it was always in the expectation that he would one day replace Carol,” said Vince Viola, senior VP, McCann Asia-Pacific and MD of McCann Hong Kong’s Cathay Team.

“When you have a focus on just one business, the most you can get out of a senior creative talent is two to three years. Carol has achieved everything that she set out to; lifted creative standards, and integrated digital and marketing services. Sly has been her partner throughout the way.”
