SINGAPORE: Asia's passion for the latest technological gizmos has

inspired SMT Haymarket Publications to launch men's lifestyle magazine

Stuff.

The December launch issue, available at newsstands on November 23, will

have a section called Hot Stuff, with short articles on the latest tech

products, as well as features on comparative reviews of stereos,

camcorders, games and consoles. "The experience is that Singaporeans are

mad about gadgets - PDAs, mobiles, audio equipment is really a big thing

here," explained Tony Watts, SMT Haymarket publishing manager. "There's

no magazine quite like this one in this market; there's some technical

publications but there's nothing aimed at consumers."

The Singapore and Malaysia editions will have a combined circulation of

45,000 and will also be distributed in Hong Kong, Thailand and the

Philippines.

The newly-appointed editor Winnie Lee was previously features editor at

MPH's Upload. The new title will target electronic manufacturers for ad

revenue. Stuff, aimed at 18 to 35-year-old men, will closely follow

Haymarket's UK edition rather than the more risque US title published by

Dennis Publications.

SMT Haymarket is joint venture between Singaporean publisher SMT and

British publisher Haymarket, which also owns media.
