Smith heads new board to identify growth prospects

TBWA\Asia-Pacific has formed a regional management board, comprising some its most senior executives to capitalise on growth opportunities arising from the expansion of the TBWA and Tequila brands.

Keith Smith, the network's regional chairman, said the board would meet on a quarterly and ad hoc basis to set and manage company policies and discuss possible areas of expansion in Asia-Pacific. "The players are all people who have been with us a long time and know our brands and the region thoroughly. We hope that all of our clients will benefit from this new structure," said Smith. "This group have all played a major role in the dramatic growth we've experienced, and it is time we used their skills across the region and not just in the markets they operate." Smith said the board has brought together some of the best talent in the region and is made up of key country heads representing TBWA's three largest markets: Japan, Korea and China, as well as its important creative centre in Thailand. Board members are Gavin Heron, CEO of the TBWA group in China; Philip Brett, CEO of TBWA\Tequila Singapore and managing director of Tequila\Asia-Pacific; Chul Joong Kang, CEO of TBWA\ Korea; Ian Thubron, CEO of TBWA Group Hong Kong and EVP TBWA\Asia-Pacific; Chaipranin Visudhipol, managing director of TBWA\Thailand; and Gary Wenzel, COO of the new TBWA\Hakuhodo Japan joint-venture. TBWA has for some time now been running a regional creative group, which meets twice a year, to drive its creative standards further.
