MusicXS launched this week and will take on 3MusicStation, owned by rival Hutchison Telecom.
MusicXS claims to offer 600,000 tracks by foreign and local artists for Hong Kong users to download directly on to their mobile phones or their computers. The service, which costs a flat fee per month, can be supported by more than 50 handset models from HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sharp, Sony Ericsson and Vodophone.
The launch has resulted in a press release spat with executives from 3MusicStation. A release from 3MusicStation claimed it had 800,000 tracks available, leading SmarTone to point out that 3MusicStation had only 200,000 tracks available less than a month earlier.
