Skoda nears Olympics decision

SHANGHAI - Shanghai Volkswagen brand Skoda is believed to be close to making a decision on which creative agency will handle its Olympics branding assignment in the run-up to next year's games in Beijing.

It is believed that two agencies – Grey and DDB Guoan - are in the running for the business, which leverages Volkswagen’s status as a partner of the Beijing 2008 Games.

At present, Grey handles the bulk of Skoda’s creative duties. Skoda recently launched its first China-made model – the Octavia – and is also planning to introduce the subcompact Fabia and mid-range Superb models.

Representatives from both Grey and DDB declined to comment.
