Skinner to replace Lam as MD for UM

HONG KONG - Universal McCann's managing director Alice Lam (pictured) will leave the company after holding her position for two and a half years.

Managing director of Initiative Chris Skinner has been appointed as her replacement.

According to Universal McCann, Lam’s decision is a personal one as she is looking to reenter retirement. A spokeswoman from Universal McCann said that Lam wants to spend more time with her family and friends, play golf and spend time on her favourite charity. She has not yet decided on her departure date from the agency.

Lam, 50, has been in the industry for more than 25 years and emerged from her one-year retirement in 2006 to join Universal McCann.

Prior to her work at the media agency, Lam was the CEO of Maxus Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific.

Skinner was appointed to run Initiative’s Hong Kong office in 2007 after departing his role as managing director for ZenithOptimedia Hong Kong. Of his appointment at Universal McCann, Skinner told Media that it is a great opportunity to grow the two brands building on what they have already achieved. “Both are strong digital brands, which we can bring to the Universal McCann client”.

At Universal McCann, Skinner‘s key clients will include Coca-Cola.
