Singex to launch new Resort Asia show at Sentosa Island in mid-2007

SINGAPORE Singex Exhibitions is launching the first trade and consumer travel exhibition to focus on Asia's rapidly expanding resort industry.

Resort Asia, which will be held from June 27 to 30, 2007 in Singapore, will provide a unified promotional platform for the region's resort operators. Resort Asia 2007 aims to attract 150 international exhibitors and more than 2,000 trade visitors and buyers. The event will target leisure buyers, incentive buyers, investors and suppliers worldwide including Europe, the US and Russia, and hopes to tap into the growing appetite for resort travel within Asia's market of three billion people. "The Southeast Asian travel and tourism market alone is estimated to be worth more than US$500 billion in 2006 and is expected to grow by 6.3% per annum," said Jimmy Wong, project director at Singex Exhibitions. "The marketing of Asia's resorts has been fragmented up until now," said Wong. "Resort Asia will also provide a platform to showcase the 'hidden jewels' of the region." Resort Asia will be held outdoors on Tanjong Beach on Singapore's Sentosa Island. Cabanas will be used as exhibition booths and country pavilions to recreate the resort experience. "They will feel like they are entering an Asian village resort," said Wong. "Buyers will not only see the product, they will really experience the product." The show will be supported by the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore, Pacific Asia Travel Association, Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau.
