AMSTERDAM Singapore has been ranked as the most popular meetings city in the Asia Pacific region by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

Singapore scooped the top position as Asia Pacific’s leading city with a total of 127 association meetings.Seoul followed with 85 meetings, then came Beijing with 65. Kuala Lumpur followed with 63, ahead of Hong Kong with 57. Sydney
and Bangkok were tied with 51 meetings.Globally, Singapore dropped to third position after Paris leapfrogged it to take second place. The statistics represent a snapshot of qualifying events in the ICCA Association Databaseas sampled on April 10 this year.ICCA’s statistics do not include one-off events, or those which do not move between different destinations.Martin Sirk, CEO of ICCA, said: “While ICCA’s statistics only cover the international association market segment and not the equally important corporate meetings segment, they are unique in comparing destinations all around the world. “By using the same methodology, it enables ourmembers to gauge the relative effectiveness of their marketing and bidding strategies.Singapore has one of the most sophisticated and aggressive marketing strategies on theplanet, so it is absolutely no surprise to see its success in ICCA’s rankings.”
