Singapore Sports Council consolidates creative business

SINGAPORE - Leo Burnett has been awarded the creative duties of the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) following a multi-agency pitch which was first called last December.

SSC was previously working with various creative agencies on an ad hoc basis. Leo Burnett’s appointment marks the first time that SSC has awarded a one-year contract to a creative agency.

The Publicis Groupe agency is tasked with strategic conceptualisation and creative execution of campaigns for SSC’s initiatives such as the ‘Let’s play’ sports movement, the promotion of Team Singapore athletes for Southeast Asia Games 2009 and other major sports events next year.

Rhonda Koh, director of marketing communications at SSC, said: “Leo Burnett possesses the kind of integrated, strategic and creative know-how that we need to promote sports as a way of life in Singapore, to engender a sporting culture.”

Kurt Viertel, managing director of Leo Burnett Singapore, added, “It is inspiring to see people come together for sports and to witness national identity being forged as a result of participation at regional and international games. This is a meaningful task and our team is honoured to join the SSC in further promoting Singapore as the centre for sports in Asia."
