Singapore plans major new campaign for CEI business

SINGAPORE Singapore Tourism Board will be launching a new marketing campaign this quarter to raise the awareness of Singapore as a CEI destination in key international markets.

Alongside this campaign will be a new meetings and incentive scheme to be launched in the middle of this year. In the interim, the 'Make It Singapore Plus' campaign will be extended to June 30, 2006. The campaign has attracted over 50 business events and has hit its target, having generated over 100,000 visitor nights in Singapore. Singapore drew 8.94 million visitor arrivals, exceeding the board's target of 8.9 million visitors for 2005. Total visitor days also grew by 14 per cent to reach 30.6 million days in 2005. Singapore Tourism Board assistant chief executive (Business Travel & MICE Group) Aloysius Arlando said: "We can expect the positive energy and momentum in the industry over the past year to continue into 2006." This year, STB will increase its level of industry engagement and in the mid- to long-term, it will encourage the local CEI industry to build up its business and manpower capabilities and attract more top CEI companies and organisations to use Singapore as their base. "Having a dynamic eco-system of local and foreign firms and organisations based in Singapore will bring in moreBTMICE traffic/business and strengthen Singapore'sposition as a regional hub from which to tap Asia's burgeoning CEI industry."
