SINGAPORE: The Singapore Navy will hold a statutory review of its

advertising and media account, which has been held for the past 17 years

by Saatchi & Saatchi, with Zenith handling media buying and

planning.

The review is expected to attract a long list of agencies, which will be

asked to first submit tender documents. A shortlist of two to three

agencies will then be invited to a creative pitch.

Saatchi's chief executive officer Simone Bartley said the agency, which

has created some award-winning work for the Navy, will repitch.

The winning agency will be announced in December and will be awarded a

three-year contract, starting in April 2002. The winning agency will

create TV, press and outdoor ads as well as direct mail and

brochures.

A Navy spokeswoman said: "We want to attract new recruits by positioning

the navy as a choice employer and to also enhance our corporate image."
