Singapore library taps AKQA in bid to evoke nostalgia

The Singapore National Library Board (NLB) has tapped AKQA to roll out a microsite, calling for short story entries to commemorate the closure of the historic National Library building.

The site allows users to submit stories, photos and illustrations, which will be compiled and published as a book, in recognition of the National Library's cultural landmark status. "It's definitely a cleaner way of accepting entries from the public," said Greg Tan, executive producer at AKQA, which handled creative and production. The microsite also features a viral component in the form of a 'tell a friend' section, which departs from the norm by utilising three unique HTML email formats. "You can break away from the regular portal look and feel -- we can create a mood for people to remember the library," said Tan. AKQA won the project without a pitch, and will also be handling design of the book. sm
