Singapore hotel levy for first Formula One

SINGAPORE The inaugural Formula One (F1) Singapore Grand Prix (GP) will be held on a street circuit around Marina Bay on September 28, next year.

It is likely to be a night race – the first in F1 history – if safety concerns are met. A five-night levy will apply to total revenues from hotel rooms and room packages from September 24 to 28, next year.

The 11 trackside hotels will pay 30 per cent while all other tourist hotels will pay 20 per cent.

Hotels have yet to announce rates for this period but all visitors to Singapore can expect an increase.

Singapore GP, the local organiser, is offering corporate hospitality packages within the F1 circuit park.

Packages range from small groups of ten to 12 people, through to large two-tier suites and lounges with fully equipped dining rooms, bars and sky viewing lounges.
