Singapore, they also wanted a venue that was easily accessible and attractive to create further
awareness to Singaporeans and consumers around the region.
Challenges
“Singapore Expo supported KOTRA as a venue to their event management company and our
event services team also helped the organiser,” says Keith Oliver, general manager of Singapore Expo. “Coordination was a challenge as the people involved included KOTRA Singapore, KOTRA Korea (the organiser) and the event management company (based in Korea).
“The location and distance made communication difficult. In addition, there were culture
and language differences.
Nevertheless, we managed to plan and work together to deliver a successful show.”
Execution
The exhibition showcased the latest world-class products made by Korean companies. Samsung
Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor and 70 other companies attended the trade show, while a special booth was set-up to show-off products from the Gaeseong Industrial
Complex in North Korea.
The exhibition took eight months to conceptualise. It also took three days to set-up for the
three-day event. The show took up 3,050 sqm of floorspace.
Verdict
“The organiser is very happy with our support and the success of the show,” says Oliver. “The president of South Korea also visited the event – the first foreign head of state to visit Singapore Expo. The security surrounding such a visit was intense and time consuming,
however everything went smoothly,” says Oliver. “The South Korean Presidential Department presented an award token with the Korean Presidential Security emblem to our operations and event services teams for their planning and execution of the event.”
