Singapore Airlines hires Ionides while Forshaw moves to Microsoft

ASIA-PACIFIC - Microsoft Asia Pacific has appointed former Singapore Airlines communications head Stephen Forshaw (pictured) to the post of regional corporate communications director.

In response to Forshaw’s departure, Singapore Airlines has hired Nicholas Ionides as vice-president of public affairs.

Ionides joins the airline from Reed Business Information where he was regional managing editor of Reed titles including Flight International and Airline Business magazines as well as the Air Transport Intelligence and Flightglobal news websites.

Currently based in Singapore, Ionides has also worked as the aviation editor for the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong.
At Microsoft, Forshaw is charged with overseeing the company’s external communications management, including media relations, public affairs and employee communications.

He will also be based in Singapore and oversee communications operations in fifteen markets across Asia-Pacific beginning late April.

Forshaw joins Microsoft from Singapore Airlines, where he headed up the company’s global communications business since 2004.

He has also worked for the Government of the Australian Capital Territory Canberra as a senior ministerial adviser.
