Silverman sets up Godfrey Q in China

Scott Silverman, former GM of Young & Rubicam and Wunderman in Beijing, has teamed up with San Francisco technology shop Godfrey Q and Partners to roll out its first overseas office in China.

Godfrey Q, launched in 2003 by Patrick Godfrey and Brian Quennell, counts Symantec, Motorola breakaway Free-scale Semiconductor, Dolby Laboratories and Borland Software among its clients. Silverman, who worked with Godfrey at Ogilvy Direct in Los Angeles in the early '90s, will customise creative developed in San Francisco for Asia and identify local marketing initiatives. The emphasis will be on meeting the needs of Godfrey Q's current client roster in Asia, rather than gunning for new business, Silverman said. His main role will be to establish a network of specialist agencies around the region to work with Godfrey Q, commencing with China before branching out to other markets in Asia-Pacific.
