The IPG agency, which already handles the client’s transmission business, saw off competition from undisclosed agencies in Europe and the Americas.
Mark Ingrouille, Southeast Asia area director of McCann Worldgroup commented: “Several people have asked me: why would a German company choose an agency based in Southeast Asia to handle its global assignment? My reply is: why not?
“Growth in energy is already being driven by the strong developing countries such as China and India.
“ Now there is added impetus from Latin America, especially Brazil, and from Russia and the East European markets,” added Ingrouille.
“This is already a truly globalised business, so where the agency is based is irrelevant - but understanding developing markets is critical.”
Siemens’ corporate business, held by Ogilvy, and its Publicis-run industrial account, were unaffected by the review in question.
