SIA builds web buzz for Airbus

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched a new website ahead of the arrival of the world's first Airbus A380.

The singaporeair.com/a380 site was developed by Tequila Singapore, which won the account in 2005 (Media Online, November 1, 2005). According to Tequila Singapore managing director Jane Hastings, the aim of the new website is to build a 'First to the future' concept, to support SIA's overall 'First to fly' positioning for the A380. "The website experience is futuristic and the content will be captivating for those who login and register to be the first to know," said Hastings. The website features a range of news and information on the A380, including downloads and a photo gallery. In addition, a historical section chronicles SIA's journey from its early days to its current status as the first airline to operate the world's largest-ever passenger aircraft. "This website is designed to satisfy thirst for information on the Singapore Airlines A380 through interactive features and little-known facts," said SIA EVP of marketing and regions Huang Cheng Eng, in a statement. "We hope that the public will share in our excitement as Singapore Airlines brings the first ever commercial A380 into service later this year." Visitors to the site can register to receive monthly e-newsletters and take part in games and prize draws. SIA has 10 A380s on firm order, and 15 on options, valued at US$8.6 billion.
