Shanker departs India Media Exchange

MUMBAI - Shyam Shanker, president of Publicis Groupe's consolidated media buying operation India Media Exchange (IMX), has stepped down one year after the unit was formed.

Shanker leaves to pursue interests outside of the media industry, according to a Publicis Groupe statement.

A search for a replacement, led by Starcom MediaVest Group's South and Southeast Asia CEO Ravi Kiran (pictured) is underway.

IMX was set up in 2007 to pool the media buying resources of ZenithOptimedia and Starcom MediaVest Group. Shanker was appointed as president at the time of launch.

“Shyam has been instrumental in making India Media Exchange a success and helping us build momentum in the region,” said Kiran.  “He is now off to his next challenge and we wish him well.”
