“Environment conservation and animal protection continue to be a high priority for Shangri-La in terms of its corporate social responsibility agenda. We are therefore delighted to partner with National Geographic to present to viewers the programmes that took over a year to produce,” said Madhu Rao, managing director and CEO at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Produced in high definition, the series also takes on a modern twist by showcasing designer fashions of Jason Wu against the backdrop of Inner Mongolia and its culture.
“National Geographic Channel and Shangri-La share a commitment to showcasing and preserving the natural beauty of the world,” added Choylin Mok, the supervising producer at NGC Asia.
The project also involves American-Taiwanese photographer Yu Tsai, who is widely used in the fashion and advertising industry. He is also a member of NGC’s national wildlife research group.
Shangri-La has used Zhang as a brand ambassador for the past three years.
NGC is part of Fox International Channels, which recently overhauled its Asia structure.
