Shangri-La opens in Delhi to warm industry welcome

NEW DELHI Conference and exhibition organisers have welcomed the launch of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts'first property in New Delhi.

The 323-room Shangri-La Hotel's grand ballroom is 602 sqm and can hold 650 people theatre style. The ballroom is divisible into quarters and there are three smaller meeting rooms. "We have a big events force both in sales and service that is dedicated to making events successful," said Ruchika Mehta, marketing communications manager, Shangri-La Hotel, New Delhi. New Delhi-based Siddharth Jain, chief of marketing operations for global events and expositions said: "The convention facilities best suit smaller residential conferences. "For example, groups of two or three hundred would be ideally suited by the venue." He added: "The Shangri-La can also handle product launches and other marketing events. For bigger events, the lawns can be used. "The facilities aren't well equipped for exhibitions and Delhi is suffering from a shortage of quality venues."
