Shanghai Tang opts for gritty creative

HONG KONG - Apparel brand Shanghai Tang has launched the follow-up campaign to last year's 1930s theme 'Shanghai Redux'.

Conceived and art directed by Shanghai Tang creative director Joanne Ooi, the new burst features models elegantly dressed in the brand's eye-catching designs, against an urban construction-site backdrop of Shanghai's skyline photographed in deliberately muted colours.

"We wanted to show the modern face of Shanghai, it's grittiness and ambivalence," said Ooi.

Last year's Shanghai Redux work aimed to take consumers back to a nostalgic, period in the city's heyday.
