The paper will be launched by First Finance Media, which was formed when Shanghai Television and Oriental Television financial channels were merged in the cross media consolidation that created SMG. First Finance spokesperson Gao Yun-fei said the national daily would be rolled out within this year, but could not provide an exact launch date.
Industry sources said the paper would help promote the broadcast products, but said the title would be constrained by the tight control that the Government exercises on newspapers, particularly financial titles.
