Senior Ogilvy NY exec fills Fong's CEO role at Batey

SINGAPORE: Benoit Schaack has been named Batey/Red Cell Singapore's new CEO, joining the agency from Ogilvy & Mather New York.

Shaack, who was managing director and senior partner at the Ogilvy office, previously spent seven years in Asia as general manager and country manager of Ogilvy's Indonesian and Korean operations respectively. His appointment follows the departure of the previous CEO, Mark Fong, in November 2004.

"I've been working for Ogilvy for 18 years and it makes sense to stay within WPP," said Schaack. "It's a phenomenal brand in Asia and it's a highly creative agency and that's something that's unique in this market."

Batey/Red Cell regional COO Robert Kay added: "Good talent is everything.

We can never have too many good people at Batey/Red Cell, and in Benoit we believe we're fortunate to have found a strong leader who is now ready to apply his considerable talents to help continue to build Asia's most entrepreneurial and creatively driven agency."
