SATELLITE & CABLE: Thai TV moving to digital broadcast

<p>Terrestrial television stations in Thailand are investing in </p><p>digital broadcast facilities to diversify their income stream. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>BEC World Plc, the holding company of Channel 3 in Thailand, plans to </p><p>invest 200 million baht (USdollars 4.57 million) in its multimedia </p><p>venture. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The multimedia centre will produce digital television content for the </p><p>channel and will convert its existing analogue programming content into </p><p>digital format. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The digital content produced by the center will commercially distribute </p><p>via the Internet, WAP phones and interactive TVs. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>BEC has also set up a new subsidiary, BEC Multimedia, as the company's </p><p>multimedia arm to take charge of digital TV development and business. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
