<p>Star Sports has launched Sportline, a live half-hour sports news </p><p>programme. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Mr Manu Sawhney, managing director of ESPN Software India, said </p><p>Sportline was "one of the biggest programming initiatives for the </p><p>company". </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"It has the advantage of covering more events, giving immediate results </p><p>and reports in minimum time and with expert analysis," he said. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"The objective is to offer international sports news from an Indian </p><p>perspective". </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Initially launched in English six times a day, the programme is to later </p><p>air in Hindi. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Sportline will be produced in Singapore. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Separately, ESPN Star Sports (ESS) announced the promotion of Mr Vib </p><p>Sharma as senior vice-president, advertising and integrated sales. </p><p>Formerly vice-president, advertising sales at ESS, Mr Sharma succeeds Mr </p><p>Chris McDonald, who left the company at the end of September. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Mr Sharma is to assume responsibility for the advertising, sponsorship </p><p>and integrated sales divisions at ESS and manage a team of sales </p><p>personnel based in Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and </p><p>India. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
