MTV Networks and @JapanMedia have jointly launched a new 24-hour

Japanese language music network and website, www.mtvjapan.com for the

Japanese market.

The partnership involves a multimillion investment in the Japanese

market, where the new channel will carry locally produced content, as

well as MTV's global programming.

The advertiser-supported music network will feature original Japanese

language content on-air and online targeting the 16 to 34 year old

audiences.

With a mixture of Japanese and international music videos, MTV Japan is

now seen by 2.8 million households through the cable and satellite

platform.

MTV's Japanese website aims to offer a seamless intergration between TV

and online experiences, allowing viewers to programme their favourite

videos on air.

Taking charge of the online and TV business, Mr Teiichi Takenaka was

named president and CEO of the MTV Japan and MTVi Group Japan.

"The simultaneous launch of MTV Japan on air and online underscores the

importance of convergent entertainment experiences for young people and

demonstrates our long-term commitment to Japan," said MTV Networks

International president Bill Roedy.
