SATELLITE & CABLE: MTV launches new 24-hour Japanese network and website
<p>MTV Networks and @JapanMedia have jointly launched a new 24-hour </p><p>Japanese language music network and website, www.mtvjapan.com for the </p><p>Japanese market. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The partnership involves a multimillion investment in the Japanese </p><p>market, where the new channel will carry locally produced content, as </p><p>well as MTV's global programming. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The advertiser-supported music network will feature original Japanese </p><p>language content on-air and online targeting the 16 to 34 year old </p><p>audiences. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>With a mixture of Japanese and international music videos, MTV Japan is </p><p>now seen by 2.8 million households through the cable and satellite </p><p>platform. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>MTV's Japanese website aims to offer a seamless intergration between TV </p><p>and online experiences, allowing viewers to programme their favourite </p><p>videos on air. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Taking charge of the online and TV business, Mr Teiichi Takenaka was </p><p>named president and CEO of the MTV Japan and MTVi Group Japan. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"The simultaneous launch of MTV Japan on air and online underscores the </p><p>importance of convergent entertainment experiences for young people and </p><p>demonstrates our long-term commitment to Japan," said MTV Networks </p><p>International president Bill Roedy. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
