SATELLITE & CABLE BRIEFING: HBO pulls plug on M'sia's Mega TV

<p>HBO Asia has suspended service to Mega TV in Malaysia after both </p><p>sides failed to reach agreement on payment owed to HBO. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Meanwhile, Astro, which is operated by Measat Broadcast Network Systems, </p><p>will continue to offer HBO and Cinemax services in the country. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>In Taiwan, HBO recently launched the multiplex channel HBO2, which </p><p>complements its existing premiere movie channel. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>As an extension of HBO, HBO2 offers more convenient viewing times of </p><p>movies and special programmes, which viewers may have otherwise missed </p><p>on the HBO channel. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"While Taiwan is the first market in which HBO Asia is launching HBO2, </p><p>plans are in the works to bring this multiplexed service to key premium </p><p>Asian markets in the near future," said Mr Daniel Murrell, president and </p><p>CEO of HBO Asia. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
