SATELLITE & CABLE BRIEFING: HBO pulls plug on M'sia's Mega TV

HBO Asia has suspended service to Mega TV in Malaysia after both

sides failed to reach agreement on payment owed to HBO.

Meanwhile, Astro, which is operated by Measat Broadcast Network Systems,

will continue to offer HBO and Cinemax services in the country.

In Taiwan, HBO recently launched the multiplex channel HBO2, which

complements its existing premiere movie channel.

As an extension of HBO, HBO2 offers more convenient viewing times of

movies and special programmes, which viewers may have otherwise missed

on the HBO channel.

"While Taiwan is the first market in which HBO Asia is launching HBO2,

plans are in the works to bring this multiplexed service to key premium

Asian markets in the near future," said Mr Daniel Murrell, president and

CEO of HBO Asia.
