Samsung ties up with Discovery in Olympic SMS sell

As part of its build-up to the Athens Olympic Games, Discovery Communications India and Samsung India have jointly launched a SMS-oriented 'Back2Athens' contest for all mobile subscribers in India.

The two companies have also launched a website -- discoverysamsung.com -- for participants to take part in the 10-day contest. Discovery is airing The Athens Games Special on its Discovery Channel. Audiences can also see the Olyympic promos on the website. Apart from this, a special capsule giving information on the contest will feature in all Samsung Digital Plaza showrooms across India. Shubhodip Pal, senior manager of marketing at Samsung India, said: "Our partnership with Discovery is in sync with our sports marketing strategy. In fact, the contest was an opportunity for us to strengthen our brand saliency, reach out to our target consumers and get viewer interest for the Olympics."
