Saatchis hires Koh for interactive role

BEIJING Saatchi & Saatchi Beijing has kicked off the New Year by appointing Ogilvy China interactive head Dwayne Koh to the newly-created role of interactive creative director, spearheading the agency's first mainland foray into the interactive space.

The appointment, effective from January 22, will see Koh based in Beijing, reporting to Saatchis & Saatchi Beijing CEO Charles Sampson.

According to Sampson, the hire is the first in a series of network moves to boost its online resources in China.

“We want to build a proper interactive team and we'e approaching it very seriously, as we look to bring on designers, flash programmers and planners,” said Sampson.

“It’s a big step for us, but the (interactive) space is something that everyone is looking at very seriously at the moment, as are we.”

Koh will initially focus on Lexus Beijing as a core part of his remit, but Sampson noted that as the need arises across the network's China operations, Koh would take on an expanded role, including Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Koh, who has won a slew of awards at the New York Festival, the DM Awards, CrowBar and DMA-Echo, and has also worked across a range of clients including Google, Motorola, Samsung, Singapore Airlines and Levis, among others.
