“It has been confirmed internally today that I have resigned,” said Rylance (pictured).
“This is a great company with some extraordinary people, especially in Asia-Pacific, so this has been an extremely difficult decision for me – but I believe now is the time for me to seek out new challenges.”
Rylance first joined Burson-Marsteller London in 1982. After relocating to Korea in 1986 to manage global PR for the Seoul Olympics, he left the agency to found his own shop – Merit Communications, which he eventually sold back to B-M in 1999, becoming Asia-Pacific CEO of the network in the process.
His eight-year tenure at the helm of B-M has seen several highlights, including Network of the Year honours at Media’s Asia-Pacific PR Awards in 2000, 2003 and 2005, and the acquisition of highly-rated Indian agency Genesis PR in 2005.
