Roebuck set to head BBDO Guerrero Ortega

BBDO Guerrero Ortega is set to appoint Paul Roebuck to head the agency, following the departure of chief executive officer and president Susan Dimacali to another agency.

Roebuck joins from Perwanal Saatchi & Saatchi in Jakarta, where he spent two years as CEO. His move comes after spending the bulk of his career at Saatchis operations in Malaysia, the UK and South Africa. "When David approached me about the job, there were two things that instantly attracted me to the opportunity," said Roebuck of the offer from BBDO Guerrero Ortega chairman and chief creative officer David Guerrero. "It was an opportunity to work with a network I've always admired, and work with a man of David's stature." Guerrero added that the appointment marks an important stage in the agency's evolution, as it seeks to build on its position as a regional hub for FedEx, Pepsi and Visa, to create more regional advertising. "It's an opportunity to take the agency to the next level in terms of competing on a regional basis and we want to be recognised as one of the hottest creative shops in Asia. The Philippines has traditionally been under-recognised and undervalued as a market in Asia," said Guerrero. "We believe it is the right time for the country to show off its potential. We can certainly provide a (regional) service wherever it is needed. We also want to make that thinking available to local clients." Roebuck also noted that a key factor in his decision to join was the "drive and purpose of the (BBDO) team in Manila".
