SINGAPORE The Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) will hold the inaugural corporate event in Singapore's newest venue, Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay - with its 2002 convention on December 4 and 5.
It will be staged in conjunction with the Asia Television Forum and Promax/BDA Asia, respectively, the largest programming and television marketing exchanges in the region.
"The strategic scheduling of our three events promises to entice an even larger than normal audience of the top minds in the industry and makes for great economies of scale," a CASBAA spokesman said.
Panelists for the conference will include many of CASBAA's active members such as Turner International Asia Pacific president and managing director Mr Steve Marcopoto, AsiaSat chief executive officer Mr Peter Jackson, MTV Asia president Mr Frank Brown and Columbia Tristar managing director Asia Mr Dewy Ip.
"CASBAA is working to be more inclusive of multiple sectors of benefit to our members in expanding markets by addressing financing and investment, intellectual property and piracy, regulation, and research," the spokesman added.
"This is reflected in our attempts to engage regulatory bodies, governments, multi-lateral institutions, development banks and non-governmental organisations."
The convention will cover such issues as subscription, Investment & Finance, Piracy, Local Content, Cable TV, Research and Advertising and also be followed by a gala dinner at the completion of the event.
CASBAA regional satellite partners will carry the event live and it will be down-linked to member stations.
